Six months or so after getting a video game console, the market becomes saturated until there is one in 80 percent of homes. Early buyers apparently lost interest in obtaining games to play on the gaming console. The trade of business selling and renting games is still buoyant, because the number of homes with video game consoles is still growing. But, clearly, once the market for game consoles is saturated, businesses distributing games face hard times.
Which of the following, if true, would most seriously weaken the conclusion above?
(A) The market for game consoles would not be considered saturated until there was one in 80 percent of homes. (B) Among the items handled by video games distributors are many games specifically produced as game features (C) Few of early buyers of video game consoles raised any complaints about performance aspects of the new product (D) The early buyers of a novel product are always people who are quick to acquire novelties, but also often as quick to tire of them (E) In a shrinking market, competition always intensifies and marginal businesses fail

Argument concludes that once the market is saturated with game consoles, business distributing games will face hard time. So, here market saturation with gaming consoles and business distribututing games are related casually. Option B states that many games are distributed with special game features. This option clearly shows that gaming console and business distribututing games are not always closely related.
@feruz77....nice question ...Is it a 600-700 level one...seemed tough to me
Let me detail down my thought process ...Here Conclusion would be "If the market for game consoles is saturated...companies distributing games(CDG) would face a hard time..''
To weaken this one option would be to find another reason CDG would face a hard time... OR could show that despite market saturation CDG would not face a hard time...
Amongst the option, IMO B seems to give a reason..CDG wouldnt face a hard time as there is a scope of future purchases by the existing console owners...

Which of the following, if true, would most seriously weaken the conclusion above?
(A) The market for game consoles would not be considered saturated until there was one in 80 percent of homes. It repeats the premise (B) Among the items handled by video games distributors are many games specifically produced as game featuresOnly option that addresses the issue. (C) Few of early buyers of video game consoles raised any complaints about performance aspects of the new product.Premise indicate that the early buyers just loose interest. nothing is indicated of the complaint. (D) The early buyers of a novel product are always people who are quick to acquire novelties, but also often as quick to tire of themIt strengthens the conclusion (E) In a shrinking market, competition always intensifies and marginal businesses failOut of scope.
So 'B' for me.
