I wouldn't skip AWA as this might hurt my application. I'm not sure how schools would view it.

#1 A 4.0 is nothing to write home about. It's the bare minimum that a school will take before questioning your abilities.

#2 Do NOT skip the awa.

#3 You've got the RIGHT IDEA. DO NOT stress the awa. Write as much as you can coherently. Do NOT spend a ton of time on it. By doing the awa quickly you can reduce the gmat from a 3.5 hr test to a 3 hr test. And the stamina gained by shortening the test may help you get an extra question or two right.

Good luck.

I think skipping the AWA would be a bad idea because it may give Adcoms the wrong impression about you as a person. Plus, kicking ass on the essays can be a good confidence booster as you go into the quant section.

AWA section is pretty easy to crack. All you need to follow is a fixed template and fill in 2-3 loopholes in it. Follow the chineseburned guide to crack AWA. I myself got 5.5 in AWA using the strategies.

I have also read somewhere that B schools treat all the scores above 4.5 as same. You can get sample responses from Arco's real GMAT AWA guide.

Hi,
While you should not stress the AWA, as this will only cause you problems, do not skip it. All schools look at different aspects of your GMAT score. While some might not find it as important, others may find a high AWA integral to acceptance. Go to the school's websites, you are applying to, and see what different qualifications each school holds.
