There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
i don't know if adcoms think like me, but if you skip the AWA you will have more mental stamina then you otherwise would have. I would tend to attribute most of your increase in score to that fact, which is not the impression you want to make.
retake was yesterday. i completed both essays and i'm fairly confident that my work was strong. i didn't prepare at all for the essays the first time i took the exam and scored 6.0 on both.
my scaled overall score yesterday was a 680 - a 100 point increase from my first exam three years ago. not quite as high as i would have liked, but fine for now!
