SkySoarer has decided to implement flight line AE while making no other changes. For each of the following statements, select Yes if the statement would help explain this choice. Otherwise select No.

• SkySoarer wanted to implement a line that would make it possible to fly between each pair of serviced cities by taking only two flights.

Adding AE helps some routes, but it does not cover every case. In particular, Dewark to Epster still requires three flights (for example, Dewark to Bionia to Abron to Epster). Since at least one route still needs more than two flights, this cannot be the reason. Answer: No.

• SkySoarer wanted to implement a line that would decrease the total flight time for a trip between Cordell and Dewark.

The best option remains Cordell to Bionia to Dewark, which totals 174 minutes. Adding AE does not create any shorter alternative for Cordell to Dewark. So the total time for that trip is unchanged. Answer: No.

• SkySoarer wanted to implement the proposed flight line with the greatest projected annual revenue that has Epster as a terminus.

Among Epster proposals, AE has 17.2, BE has 18.8, and DE has 29.1. AE is the lowest of these, not the highest. Therefore, this cannot explain the choice either. Answer: No.

Based on the information provided, what is the minimum number of the five proposed new flight lines that must be implemented to ensure that each city currently serviced by SkySoarer becomes a terminus for at least three flight lines?

Current degrees:

A = 2, B = 3, C = 3, D = 1, E = 1.

Targets are at least 3 for each city.

Deficits: A needs 1, D needs 2, E needs 2.

Each new line increases degrees at two cities by 1 each.

Two lines can add at most 4 total degree bumps, but we need 5, so two lines cannot suffice.

Three lines can work, for example DE, AD, AE gives A = 4, B = 3, C = 3, D = 3, E = 3.
