I tend to get little anxious before important exams. As a result, I often find it difficult to fall asleep. I am wondering if any of you have tried or would recommend taking sleeping pills the night before the exam.
Can such pills have a negative impact on performance ? I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Thanks.

For the GMAT, I had used one for the first time in my life 
I was scared about the potential side effects
... I had none of them : it's a pill that my doctor uses in periods of strong brain activities and so when she is not able to "stop her brain of thinking of all"
I used it because I wanted to be sure to not have any problem making do me under perfom
So... Yes... I recommand u one, especially if u feel anxious and thus u know already that u will have a problem to sleep.

If you plan on taking a sleeping pill, do a simulation or two weeks in advance to see any possible effects.
OR
You can wake up earlier than normal the night before and just exhaust yourself and you will fall asleep easily that night.
