Recenly got dinged by SMU Cox considering all the blood, tears and sweat I've invested in preparing for the GMAT, and for the apps. After the GMAT scores were reported to them I receive a "better luck next time" letter 1 week later. :evil:

I don't think I can accept this answer. Is it OK to email/call/communicate with the advisor asking why I wasn't accepted? Perhaps aks to be in the waitlist, etc.....

Short of ticking/pissing the advisor off, should I or should I not accept the declination of admission?

i did my UG at SMU (Cox and Dedman). if you don't mind me asking what did you score on your GMAT? also, your profile would be nice (ethnicity, age, etc). i might apply to Cox for MBA but haven't decided

I'm currently studying for GMAT but don't know when I plan to take it...I guess when I'm ready for it?!?

I got a 700. I'm filipino, Visaya region, 27 y/o. Really, I didn't know profiles really made a difference. Medical schools yes, but I didn't think much of it for b-schools.

i don't know what your UG GPA is or what school you did you UG at but I'm assuming both are average if not above average.

i don't see why SMU wouldn't accept you. i think their average gmat scores in the past were 670.

anyway, keep us posted on if you decide to give them a call...

Well, there's always the rest of the application components. If all that mattered for B-school applications was GMAT score, then Harvard and Stanford would have GMAT averages on or above 790, and we know that's not the case.

Additionally, you don't get to accept or not your rejection, you are informed of it. Talk to the school to see whether they offer feedback sessions.
