Haas mentioned that they expect 3500 applications this year (versus 3200 in 2007 and 2700 in 2006). I don't know how they got to that number, but I'm afraid... very afraid!

Good advice, but I can't help it not much to do now...other than constantly checking application status. 15 November can't come soon enough.

which average stats? and what do those stats have to do with apps being up at Cornell?

I was just referring to their average gmat scores for the class of 07 and 08. Cornell's average gmat is lower than its peer schools. I think 07 it was 656 and 08 it was 677. I think this stat helps Cornell get more applications.

So people with 660 gmat scores can look at Cornell and apply to a top school and still be within the numbers. Whereas, this same person wouldn't apply to Yale because of Yale's average gmat score.

But there's really nothing to talk about. Plus its fun to talk about how hard we have it compared to former applicants.

On that count, I'm guilty too. Refreshing Gmail. Even downloaded Gmail Notifier :)

This isn't necessarily about Cornell. Someone threw Nov. 15 out there just to mention it.

Nov 15th is the day all the people who haven't been invited to interview by Chicago will know they were dinged. I think thats what is probably being talked about.

interesting...I wonder if the number of 'total' applicants has gone up or just that almost the same number of applicants are looking at more schools. I mean the average for GMATclub over the 2 rounds should be around 6-was it always the case.

Rhyme- do you think that the activity in b-week forums is more this yr? or how about admissions411.com?

Are these actually submitted apps or plans? if the latter, then I'd substract the one app that - on average - most applicants will drop after running out of time or energy.

The Tuck adcom officer stated that Apps were up 10% for R1 but she also indicated that they expect to see the averages drop for the subsequent rounds. So it evens out I guess.

I already pushed back one R1 application and am still undecided on a few R2 schools I may or may not apply to.

Admissions411 is showing a HUGE drop in numbers but that is not a good indication. This board seems to be as busy if not more, while businessweek seems slower.

I think applications will be up but with the visa issues last year I wouldn't be surprised if international applications were down. Also the stockmarket and economy as a whole being unstable may change things dramatically. If a huge number of layoffs in the next month or people fearing that may cause a spike R2 applications. I would bet it will be up again, maybe not by the percentages that were seen last year but most schools will be up. Of course you will get the rankings bump at some schools, Chicago will probably have one of the greatest leaps due to its upward momentum lately.
