Did you guys understood the meaning of the sentence? To me it was a bunch of words. I could not make much out of it.

What is wrong with D then? How to make out the correct placement of word in such situation. for instance in this case word- regularly?

I would go for E
The pool of award nominees . This is singular and therefore we choose pushes vs. push.
Another reason is the placement of the word regularly.Does the pool of nominees push regularly or does it push the regular guidelines? I understood the sentence to mean the latter.

A! - Makes sense


A) regularly push if not exceed the award guidelines

B) push if not exceed the award guidelines regularly – modifier issue (regularly)

C ) were regularly pushed if not exceeded by the award guidelines - S-V issue

D ) regularly pushes if not exceeds the award guidelines - Verb Issue

E) pushes if not exceeds the regular award guidelines – regularly displaced

Since the subject is singular "pool", verb has to be singular. Hence, by POE, only D and E stand.

Between D and E, E changes the meaning with "regular award guidelines". Hence, D should be the answer.

D. First need a singular verb "pushes' for the singular subject "the pool of ........".
Second "regularly" is correctly placed in D but not in E.

Therefore D wins, eliminating E.

My two cents:

D

A) regularly push if not exceed the award guidelines pool is singular

B) push if not exceed the award guidelines regularly pool is singular

C ) were regularly pushed if not exceeded by the award guidelines pool is singular. I was thinking to pick up this because it is in past tense

D ) regularly pushes if not exceeds the award guidelines

E) pushes if not exceeds the regular award guidelines I eliminated this because for me, it changes the meaning

OA?
