OK here is the explaination:

It is asked which one "could be" true and not "must be".

A -> cannot be true as per statement 2
B -> cannot be true as per statement 1
C-> same as A
D-> same as B

E-> could be true...as some intelligent creatures are amphibians, some snakes are amphibians and..some intelligent creates are not snakes ( or some are snakes)...so in essence all snakes can be intelligent.

Thanks for posting this one at first glance it looked too easy and then when I chose C I realized that looks are truly deceiving.
