What does " regardless of VOLUME " mean in option B ? I crossed out the option bcs of this only. It's not VOLUME we are talking about rather we are talking about strength of sound. Expert please explain.
Posted from my mobile deviceIn some instances, the world "volume" means how much space something takes up. However, the word "volume" can also refer to the loudness of a sound. For instance, if we say a sound has a particularly high "volume," that means the sound is particularly loud.
In this case, we're trying to cast doubt on the idea that dolphins use loud (i.e. high "volume") clicks to stun prey. If (B) is true, then dolphin's prey could not hear their clicks, even if they were very loud (i.e. "regardless of volume."). And if that were the case, the prey would not be stunned. For that reason, (B) is correct.
I hope that helps!
