Statement of Purpose

I am Satya Narayan Mishra, from Bhubaneswar, INDIA. I had done B.TECH in Electronics & Telecommunication from NIT Raipur, one of the premier institutes of INDIA & MBA in Marketing from BIMTECH, Delhi. I have 2 years of experience with SPARK MINDA, with a profile of client management & business development specifically in Business to Business Marketing, through Institutional clients & product development for Connected Mobility & Vehicle Tracking system. My family includes my father who has retired as a Deputy General Manager from a Navratna PSU, my mother who is a homemaker & two elder sisters who are settled in abroad; & currently I am not married. As of now every business processes is now or going to be linked through analytics streams based on a data driven environment, & considering myself good at analysing the data statistics & management sciences, I want to contribute efficiently to this futuristic world. Pursuing Masters in Business Analytics as my programme specialisation will be the best option for this.

Working in multi-dimensional geographies of South & North India, with global business groups, of my previous organisation I understand that it is not a domestic phenomenon but rather a global determinant & hence my decision to pursue a Master’s in Business Analytics is a priority at your University through Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. My post-graduation included electives in Management Science, Research Methodology, & Statistics for Business Analysis, & I believe that I am good at these fields. During my employment, I had applied the above concepts using SPSS, Data & Regression Analysis Tool Pak in MS Office Excel to analyse real time situations of various projects. The projects comprised of budget forecasting analysis, sales analytics, marketing analysis & potential study, business receivable process strategy & maturity lifecycles of specific products. I was satisfied and appreciated for the above applications. Throughout the same, I have come to appreciate business analytics as the backbone of success for any business & moving forth, I envision myself in a position within the same sphere of decision makers who determine the wave of businesses across the globe. I prioritize Business Analytics as my specialisation, as I had done a 15 day workshop in it during my post-graduation & I liked the various predictive modelling techniques used to optimise a real time business case. I like the varied distribution of the core modules of your programme structure that includes simulation methods & programming for analytics which is becoming a must for business professionals. This programme also consists of Consulting based Management, & nowadays consulting through data analysis is a needy demand for most of the businesses. The optional modules consists of a variety of choices including Capstone Simulation, Data Management & Behavioural Analytics which can help me to learn various DBs platforms & lead me to put forth the skills for Market research & Analytics for specific business.

My research was associated to various articles & consulting organisation websites listing the updated rankings of universities & their program rankings across the globe. I got an exact idea after attending lot of education fares conducted by International Universities & consulting organisations for higher studies abroad. I also got connected to various students online through professional network platforms, where they shared their past experiences of pursuing Masters in Business Analytics at different universities. They also enlightened me with the implications of the program & the brand of University, for the upcoming demand of technology & scope of opportunities in various business organisations, where the environment has become completely data driven. After careful analysis of every detail, I chose University of Dublin as its programmes are consistently ranked topmost across the globe for last several years. Specifically, the Masters in Business Analytics, which I prioritize is a very highly ranked programme in the world as per the QS Rankings. Being the No 1 University, it is also the largest & oldest university of Ireland, for which I prefer it over other universities. This University provides a vast experience of world class teaching done by some of the best professors from MIT, which is outstanding. The University also provides an exemplary international network among more than 10,000 students across 138 countries, resulting in a very strong alumni network globally. Along with academics this university also provides a vibrant cultural diversity, with a beautiful campus life with first class facilities to study, relax and socialise among students, faculty and staff from different nations. The various programmes offered by this University are considered to be the best in Europe, & the structure of course modules is very unique. At other Universities, the programme structure does not meet my specific requirement, whereas UCD has a varied distribution of the modules for the Business Analytics programme.

Considering the overall career opportunities worldwide, I analysed that the nature of upcoming business which is going to hit all types of industries including manufacturing, service based, consulting etc. is purely dependent on analytical studies that will run through a data driven environment. Henceforth, I looked for the countries that will be booming in analytics in all of their sectors, interconnecting all of their platforms across the globe within different firms. Ireland is one of those countries, which is believed to become the homeland for every multinational firm to invest their branch & bring success to the country’s growing economy. I believe, this is going to become a huge potential market for a vast scope of opportunities in data analytics with the best talent. Hence, choosing Ireland as my preferred study destination, with a choice of best research Universities of the world having world class Master’s programmes & education creates no dilemma in my mind. Studying the Business Analytics programme will definitely guide me towards the predictive analysis for any type of business decision making. My interest lies in quantitative model strategies & this programme will certainly enhance my skills in this field making me efficient in using relevant data to solve complex business problems. In India, these programmes are for a short span of 3-6 months resulting in small scope of learning, minimal application & their modules do not meet my requirements, which are vital for today’s intelligent automation technology market. In fact, the programme structure in various Irish Universities is very diverse & unique as per the industry requirement with a lot of choices to choose from the optional modules, within the 12 months programme. This type of similar flexibility of study modules is difficult to find here in India.

After completion of this programme, I wish to join the consulting, service based firms in IT Sectors, Technology, Marketing Research & Analytics with profiles of Data Analysts, Business Analysts, Strategist and Technology Consultant with responsibilities of Research and Analytics, to support the firm’s clients by streamlining their complex business decision making.Way beyond, I feel Business Analytics would observe a marked rise in professionals from every stream, with a variety of experience merging into the pure science of analytics & relating their respective experience in the sector. With more diversification, the sector would invite tenured, innovative & seasoned professionals to look at the way they conduct businesses in the changing scenario & when that happens, I wish to be ready for the challenge.

The first and foremost thing you need to know is that an SOP should be super crisp and precise such that the admission jury is able to grasp your academic and professional pursuits and your goals in just one read.

Thus, your SOP firstly demands an easy to read structure and composition because at the moment it looks too clumsy. Also, your SOP ceases to have a sound transition between the paragraphs, points, and the events you’ve tried to incorporate.

You need to cut down on much content and ensure to include only the points that are relevant to your application. For instance, in your first paragraph you’ve made a mention about you not being married, but it doesn’t add up to your application. It seems like you’re deviating from the context of what an actual and a good SOP entails.

The underlying intent of the aforementioned points is to help you frame your SOP gracefully. Hence, you need to remember that your SOP needs to have an easy to read look and all the paragraphs (or your story) needs to be in a smooth transition. Also, you need to work on your concluding paragraph which should also entail how you’ll be a valuable asset for the school and its international student body.

Try to work around with these points, and if you still struggle to work on your essay in a way that makes it stand out exceptionally from other applicantions, I recommend to use take a step further and try out our essay editing service wherein we analyse your entire academic and professional background, solicit your strengths, and highlight them in your essay.
