That's odd. If these schools are getting your info from GMASS, they are required to provide you with an option to opt out of any future marketing e-mails.

Perhaps a complaint to GMAC is in order?

Brian Lohr's handwritten notes were nice. Then it got annoying, but it may be nice again. It has become tempting to apply with waived fees and a guaranteed response in one week! People like me may be the reason he is sending that info out. Sorry folks.

I get all of these too - ND is BY FAR the worst offender. Currently, a large portion of my job is to send out emails (about 1 million per week) to past customers of my company. I can assure you that NO HUMAN looks at these mails. They will never notice, get their feelings hurt, etc. if you unsubscribe. Though, since these ARE legitimate emailers (as opposed to people selling herbal enhancers), they will unsubscribe you. If they don't they can get in some SERIOUS trouble under the can-spam ACT. Large fines, jail time, etc =)

Re: Spamming schools? [#permalink]
Penn State has been the most persistent and the most annoying of all the spammers for me. Few schools sent mails soon after the GMAT but they stopped after a couple of tries and I really appreciate that. Now I can understand that these schools are trying to get you to apply just to see what they get but I dont appreciate schools that don't stop trying after so many months. I know there is a saying that "persistence pays" but in this case I think it should be "persistence backfires". Oh yeah!!! there's another school from FLORIDA which keeps promising of full rides to scores above 700!!!!

With HKUST its not the quantity but rather the quality...

no offense taken :)

As you may have guessed, they don`t have a marketing specialization as part of their curriculum

had noticed that mail myself and had even wondered what they were trying to do with that advertisement. It was a truly awful way of getting people to apply!!!

I wouldn't say lesser schools.

But these come from schools with aggresive marketing strategies.

Anyone sick of Penn State. Just yesterday they sent a mail saying that it is the last chat of the season so I was happy that it would be their last mail but today I was surprised to see another mail!!! I am just tired of opening my mailbox and seeing Penn State. :(
