So for starters, I'm currently on a deferred enrollment from Harvard Law and I'll be applying to MBAs for the joint JD/MBA. As such, I'm really confused as to what my chances are. The only two schools I'll be applying to are HBS and Sloan (I spoke to Harvard about a joint with Sloan and they weren't very clear about their answer, I'll be speaking to someone at Sloan soon but has anyone heard of this combination?).
I haven't taken the GMAT yet but based on practice and my LSATs, I'm guessing I should be able to pull a 750-800.
I have a 3.6 GPA at HYP and majored in Economics with extensive coursework in Comp Sci, Finance and Chemistry.
ECs at School: Did a bunch of cultural stuff, theater, fraternity leadership, started a publication, worked on school's donation campaign and I had leadership positions in most of those activities.
Work experience: Here is the tricky part, I've had good summers, working in insurance, at a hedge fund abroad and for a consulting firm in the Vault Top 10. I accepted a FT position at that same consulting firm and thats where I am working at the moment.
Now the problem is, I plan on starting school after only one year of work experience and have no idea what my chances would be. Should I work an extra year? Is the MBA even worth adding to my JD (I do plan on possibly reentering business but would an additional year of work experience in consulting be worth more than the extra year in the MBA)? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, especially with respect to my chances. My selection of schools is strictly limited and unfortunately, they're all pretty hard to get into. Also, my firm is willing to sponsor the CFA. Would taking and passing the Level 1 add to my application in any way? Thanks!
