My data sufficiency scores are much better than my problem solving scores. My problem solving scores didn't improve at all over the course of consistently studying for about two months, while my data sufficiency scores jumped dramatically. How out of the ordinary is this, and what's causing the problem? I took the GMAT in early August and scored a 640 (V:39, Q:39), so I'm really looking to bring up the quant when I retake. Here are quant score breakdowns from practice tests and the GMAT.
GMATPrep 1 (June 18): PS 35, DS 30
GMATPrep 2 (July 5): PS 35, DS 38
GMATPrep 3 (July 17): PS 35, DS 32
GMATPrep 1 - Retake (July 18): PS 48, DS 26
GMATPrep 4 (July 29): PS 38, DS 48
Actual GMAT (August 3): PS 33, DS 50
I focused mainly on problem solving until about three weeks before the exam at which point I focused much more on data sufficiency (and saw the jump in score). So I guess the core issue really isn't the split as much as my problem solving skills haven't improved much at all. I went through all the manhattan quant guides and have worked out pretty much all the problems in the OG and OG quant review...I'm now working through
GMAT club tests and am using GMAT Pill. Any insight into my situation would be much appreciated.
