Hi, I am a R2 applicant for the Class fo 2017. I would like to know about the type of Visa my partner would have if I get accepted, it is not very clear though I've researched thoroughly.
Will she get a Visa that allows her to work? Is there any Visa she could apply to work? Or the only possibility to do this is to arrive and apply for the H1B Visa?

My two cents on this-
If you come on F1 visa then your spouse will not have work permit. However, If one studies under the J visa category (exchange visa), your spouse will be eligible to get a work permit. Not sure if you fall under the J category
Unfortunately, the only way your partner can work is by finding a sponsor for H1B before April'2015. In April the H1b cycle starts and the lottery gets over within 2-3 days. Another option can be if your partner is working at a company that has offices in US. The company can file L1 visa for your spouse. But even this is usually tricky.

Great insight, And thanks for the response! Unfortunately I am on the same dead end....
I'm afraid I'm not ellegible for the J1 just going to study there, not part of an exchange... So I'll guess she'll have to do social work!
