Thanks, Janielle for helping with the preparation and providing guidance.

If you don't mind what is the first step in ensuring I make the best use of the limited time I have.

Thanks,
DS

Hi dshah9380,

A 590 is a good baseline score to start from.
The next thing should be to find out the average scores at your target schools and set a target GMAT score for you.
Generally you need close to 3 months to be fully prepared for the GMAT.

The most important resources are the Official Guides and the GMAT Prep CATs. (You get 2 free and 2 additional can be purchased from mba.com)
Make sure that you solve the entire Official Guides after you have gone through all the basics and fundamentals.

You have mentioned some good books from reputed courses. But I would advise you to choose only one of them and stick to it.
Various courses suggest different ways of preparation. You do not want yourself to be in fix about this.

Also, I would recommend you to take a look at the online preparatory courses too. Most of the companies including ours offer a free trial period.
This way you can figure out if a book heavy approach suits you or a course guided approach.

Here is a 3 months study plan for you if you plan to study from the books:

Hi Rich

Thanks for the reply-

1) Did you take the FULL CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?
DS : Yes, I did take the full CAT including Essay and IR sections. I experienced lot of fatigue and hence, misread a lot of question that ended up lowering my scores.

2) Did you have to rush to finish any of the sections (and guess on a bunch of questions)?
DS : I did have to rush through the sections because I knew how to approach a problem but I couldn't manage time and when I got stuck, I couldn't move on.

3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
DS : Ideally I wanted to apply for R2 this years. My first choice is Duke but i don't think that will be feasible. But yes, I would like to apply to school for intake of 2016 or 2017 (the latest).

Hi dshah9380,

Since the various Round 2 deadlines are coming up relatively soon, you'll have to be efficient with your available study time to hit your score goal, while working on your applications and juggling all of the other things going on in your life.

It looks like you're planning for a 'book-heavy' study approach, but many Test Takers end up getting 'stuck' at a particular scoring level when studying in that way, so you might want to invest in some non-book study resources. With a Q44/V27, you also have the opportunity to pick up big points in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
