Hello,
I think I need a bit of guidance to narrow down the choices that already exist out there. I would really be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction.
I just finished my gmat 2 weeks ago. Got a 700 ( 49 in Q, and 35 in V)
I have been a sofware engineers for 5 years and work for one of the most prestigious companies in the bay area. I am kind of in a tech lead role, learning leadership and the management aspect of it is pretty challenging. My gpa in undergrad ( BE in Computer science) is 3.8/4
To be honest, I am not sure at all about schools to apply and I havent done a lot of research yet. I want to start seriously now, and would like to get some advice on where to start, factors to look for, best schools for my background.
I know that I sound as if I am not too sure about what I want, but thats the state I am in. I definetely want an MBA, for 2 reasons. One, I dont want to be an engineer all my life, and two..I think I need to learn a lot about the business aspect of the industry. Right now, I am pretty clueless on how to run a business, how to evaluate business models, how to generate revenue.
I would like to pursue MBA mainly in the US and Europe (INSEAD).
In the US, I would like to stick to the bay area (either stanford or berkeley), but that is not a strong preference. If I get into a good school I'll be glad to move there Smile
I would like to start wiht something at a broad level and as things interest me, I would like to specialise/dig deep into it.
I am not so sure I want to move away from engineering totally. I would like to be able to use business knowledge in conjunction with a technical background. Move up the ladder to make bigger decisions..probably be armed with the set of skills a CTO has,for example.
thanks in advance,
bhatta
