Hi sarang1601,

The last time you described your studies was back in June, so it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying since then:

Studies:
1) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
2) Did you take the FULL CAT each time (with the Essay and IR sections)?

Goals:
3) What is your exact Test Date for the GMAT?
4) Are you still applying to just ISB or are you considering any additional Schools?

Dear Rich EMPOWERgmatRichC

The last time you described your studies was back in June, so it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying since then:

I actually started preparing from Aug onwards with main focus on verbal .
SC-Mgmat,OG
CR-Mgmat,OG
RC-Mgmat,OG
I actually had some video lessons from a local coaching center given to me by my friend who scored 730 last year and had referred that also for my verbal studies.

For Quant I referred OG and did random questions from GMAT club websites.

1) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
1 Gmat prep-480(Q42,V16)-June
2 Gmat prep-500(Q41,V19)-Aug
3 Veritas-560(Q41,V27)-Sep
4 Mgmat-530(Q37,V27)-Oct
5 veritas-570(Q42,V27)-Oct
6 Mgmat-590(Q40,V32)-Oct
7 Mgmat-550(Q39,V28)-Nov
In quant my biggest challenge is time management , in my last mock I was able to finish 27 questions only whereas question afterwards were easy I could have done that if I had time.
In verbal although I have improved drastically in SC but my CR is giving me issues of late and there is slight improvement in RC

2) Did you take the FULL CAT each time (with the Essay and IR sections)?
No not all my mocks were full cat exams

Goals:
3) What is your exact Test Date for the GMAT?
I am planning to give twice in next 2 months(19-dec & 14-jan)

4) Are you still applying to just ISB or are you considering any additional Schools?
No, I will also explore other options but right now its ISB for which I need to submit my application by 16-Jan.

Hi sarang1601,

Since you've been taking 3rd-party CATs for the last couple of months, I'd like to see how well you perform on an Official GMAC CAT. If you have not already done so, then I suggest that you purchase at least one of the Exam Packs. Make sure to take the FULL CAT (with the Essay and IR sections) and do so in a realistic fashion (so take the CAT away from your home, at the same time of day as your Official GMAT, etc.). Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss your studies going forward.

Beyond that, you're going to have to make some significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. With the December 19th Test Date, you have less than 6 weeks of study time remaining. It might be too difficult to hit your score goal in that time (although it is possible - depending on the materials that you're studying with and how quickly you can learn/practice new Tactics).

Hi sarang1601

With a few weeks left, here is a customized 2-3 month study plan that can help boost your score: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... study-plan

Use this as a guideline. You don’t have to follow it exactly but the structure of the study plan should be the same structure that you take in your approach. This helps to optimize your retention and learning.

As you study, we recommend that you focus on one particular subsection for multiple consecutive days before moving onto the next. You can see this in our study plan where we recommend 5 days on nothing but SC -- before moving onto CR and then RC.

Here is a sample SC video to help you start your journey: https://www.gmatpill.com/sentencecorrect ... ythons.mp4

Best of luck - we are here to help.

Hi nimish1,

Most of the posts in this thread are almost 4 years old (and the original poster has not posted in over 2 years) - so you might not receive the responses that you're looking for. That having been said, there are plenty of people currently on the site who might be able to offer you what you are looking for - including suggestions for how you can proceed with your studies.

You will likely receive more of a response if you start a new post-thread (instead of piggy-backing on this one) or we can continue discussing your situation here (you can also feel free to PM me directly). Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) When did you take the Official GMAT and what were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores? Did you take the At-home GMAT or did you take your Exam at a Test Facility?
2) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used so far?
4) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
