Hello;
I was recently accepted to both NYU Stern EMBA DC program and UVA Darden EMBA program in Arlington, VA. Stern offered a $10k scholarship while Darden didn't offer any. I am a military veteran and qualify for the 100% GI Bill. I am planning on making a career in government contracting and I currently work as a Project Manager for a Fortune 500 Defense Contractor in the DC area. My goal is to continue working i the area and pivoting into the business side of the company (HQ) instead of working directly at the customer site. Also, I am considering changing companies if the opportunity presents. I am trying to make a decision on which program to attend this fall, and contemplating on the level of networking and school prestige in the Baltimore/DC area. Any input would be really appreciated. Thanks
I didn't realize Stern ran an EMBA program out of DC ...
Generally, I'm not a fan of EMBA programs run away from the mothership (i.e., Kellogg in Miami, FL ... Ross in Los Angeles ... Wharton in San Francisco ...) --- each of these programs feels a bit like a scam (i.e., let's leverage our awesome brand name in order to poach a few bucks from people who love our brand even though we're giving them quite a bit less than the people get who come to the program on the main campus).
I'm sure that's a horrible way of looking at these programs, but it's how they hit me ...
Separately, Darden does lots of stuff with the US Gov't -- I think you'd find a really nice home there.
PS -- Darden is on my personal list of top EMBA programs I'm interested in attending if I end up deciding to go get an EMBA down the road.
