Hi Elilicious, GMAT and GPA look great, especially when most German schools have an avg.of 650. Did you apply for the Nov 15 Deadline? With your profile, SSE seems to be fairly optimistic for you. It should be in the safe schools category, if you have submitted a strong application, however just a couple of things that you need to look out for here - A lot of Germans are applying to SSE, so in case the school is looking to increase the class's international diversity you might face a bit of competition especially from applicants with a stronger background in Finance. In such cases, the school usually invites the certain applicants for Interviews (It is not mandatory for all applications). Either ways, if you have submitted a strong application, I am pretty optimistic that you will have a shot at SSE.
Good Luck :)

I spoke to an admissions officer at SSE during their open-house, he said that they have several people from India that got accepted last year, notably people from engineering schools. I guess it depends on your other merits and grades as GRE is not the sole determinant of admission

For their recent intake I know that they admitted 3 people from my school. One for the msc in finance and two for the msc in accounting.

Swedish T2 schools for business studies are Lund/Uppsala/Gothenburg

Hi guys, I'm a Brazilian BSc Economics student from one of Brazil's top Economics University (PUC-Rio), applying for MSc in Finance

- GPA: 7.2/10.0 (average for the course)
- GMAT: Will take on Monday (pray for the best, but in my mock tests I'm scoring in average of 700)
- TOEFL: 112
- CFA Research Challenge, Brazilian finalist
- Internship at multinational mining company (Vale S.A.)

How do you think are my chance? In Brazil we don't know a lot about European universities, it would sure mean a lot if you could help me assess my profile. Also, here our BSc takes 4 years.

Thanks!

Hi jrrs,
So how did your GMAT go :)
The rest of the profile is pretty decent, GPA is fair, CFA is interesting.
But European schools look for holistic applications - Extra-Curriculars, Achievements during work ex, international experience, etc.
To shortlist some schools for your profile, I would need more information on -
- UG Rank ( Would be important for Tier-1 European Schools like HEC Paris)
- Extra-curricular Profile ( College activities, Social volunteering, Sports,etc)
- Details about your work ex (Company names, Key responsibilities ,etc)

Also, being from Brazil - This would add some ethnicity points to your profile as EU Schools are looking to include diverse nationalities to their class profile.

The best European Schools that you can look at are
HEC Paris ( Dream)
ESSEC, ESCP, RSM, IE ( Upper competitive)
Skema, Grenoble (Safe)

Skema and Grenoble do not require a GMAT score, a 690+ score would be considered competitive for the rest.

If you want to gauge your selection chances at the top EU schools, I would suggest you to take up a profile evalution so that I can get back to you with an indepth analysis.

Thanks for replying!

My GMAT score was 700.

On extracurricular activities, I did a lot of Model UN from 2014-2018 (about 17 times, including 3 abroad) and I was a member of my university's Financial Markets League (which helps to close the gap between the students and financial institutions) and through it I participated in some major financial markets challenges here in Brazil, which were usually to simulate how we would manage a hedge fund and were we would invest our money.

At work, I would research and write a lot of sector analysis on infrastructure and logistics situation in Brazil, which would either be for internal use for the company or be sent to government agencies. Now I deal most with analyzing data and making presentations for the company's executive committee about the financial from its other companies.

About the universities, my dream schools are, in the following order, Stockholm School of Economics, Norwegian Business School, Copenhaguen Business School,RSM, Lund, Norwegian School of Economics, Mannheim and HEC Lausanne. Do you think any of them is a safe bet? Thanks!
