Unpopular opinion: waiting for your GMAT score before starting applications is the single dumbest time management move in this whole process.
I say this after sitting through hundreds of applicant calls. Everyone splits into "waiting for my score" or "score's done, chilling for now." Both are making the same mistake. They're treating the test like it's the application.
It's not. It's maybe 15% of it. The essays, the story, the positioning, that's the part that actually decides your outcome, and it's also the part with zero finish line. You could rewrite an essay 10 times and still find a sharper line on the 11th.
So here's the take: pick 2-3 schools you'd apply to no matter what you score. Start writing for those today. Your score literally cannot change whether those schools stay on your list. Everything else is just time you're burning for no reason.
The applicants who look calm in September aren't smarter. They just didn't wait for permission to start.
