Hi AakashSingh,

Until we have your initial practice CAT Score, we won't know exactly what adjustments you might have to make to how you are studying. Many GMATers end up facing certain issues during their first few CATs that are NOT about intelligence or knowledge (re: you might have pacing problems, take notes in an inconsistent or disorganized way, be prone to making little mistakes, etc.) - so there will be far more to consider than just how you handle the major content areas and question types.

You might also want to do a little research now into the Schools that might interest you. By putting together a list earlier rather than later, you can gather additional data about application requirements and deadlines, average GMAT Scores for each Program, etc. This can help you to better define your GMAT Goals - and can potentially help you to more efficiently plan out your studies.

Going forward, you might also need to increase your study hours. From what you describe, it sounds as though you're studying between 10 and 15 hours a week. That's a reasonable amount of time, but taking and properly reviewing a practice CAT test would likely require 7-8 hours alone (just for one practice exam). The type of training needed to get to the point that you can consistently score 700+ will almost certainly require more time over the next 2-3 months than you are currently putting in.

Hi AakashSingh,

Regarding prep materials, in addition to seeking advice in this thread, take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant and verbal courses, and also read through some GMAT success stories to see what materials have worked well for other test-takers.

Also, would you like some general advice on how to improve your verbal and quant skills?

Lastly, you may find it helpful to read the following article:

How to score a 700+ on the GMAT.

Hi AakashSingh,

YES - you should take your first practice CAT/mock sometime soon. There are certain aspects to taking the GMAT that you can only learn by actually taking FULL CATs at regular intervals - and if you have to make some adjustments to your test-taking routine, then it's better to have MORE time to define those issues and fix them (than waiting to take your CATs until the 'end' of your studies, when you might not have enough time to properly improve).
