Hi all -
I hope you're well?
I do have my exam in 4 days. I need to score 550 but my GMAT prep CAT was only 410.
In the Quant section, I make most of the mistakes because I don't read the question throughly enough, because I make calculations errors and because I get nervous once I am not familiar with the question. Anyway, afterwards, when I go through my mistakes again, all the math is clear and I can almost solve every question.
In the Verbal section, I hurry too through the CR and RC questions and, thus, I missing important information and meaning of the texts.
My strategy
Most of my mistakes are caused because I rush through the questions. So, I plan to skip at least one question between #11-20 and one between #20-30 for the Quant as well as the Verbal section.
I won't score 550 in the exam but I try to do the best to get as close as possible.
Do you have any further advices or thoughts or experiences according to my situation?

You have to take as much time as you need to read and understand the question. If you don't know the question, then you won't be able to answer the question correctly. You can actually skip about 5 questions in the quant section and also 5 questions in verbal section and still get a high score. However, you need to spread out those questions throughout the section. So the next question would be what question should I skip? During your preparation, you need to make a list of question type to skip on the official test. For example, I don't like DS digit problem, so when I see it on the official test, I will skip it immediately. Do not sit there for two minutes thinking about whether to skip the question. The purpose of skipping the question is to save some time on the questions that you have trouble. If you spend two minutes on such question, then you are defeating the purpose.

I just tried out the strategy and scored on a GMAT Prep CAT 520 - perhaps you could also advise me on the following:
1. Next steps
My result of the GMAT Prep was
Quant - Scaled Score 35 // Percentile 36
Verbal - Scaled Score 26 // Percentile 41
Total - Scaled Score 520 // Percentile 38
Does this result mean that I answered less questions correct in the Verbal section but with an higher weight for the final score?
However, my plan for the last two days to work on the Quant questions I missed and to improve my SC skills as those two areas probably promise the fastest results.
2. How to handle AWA & IR?
The university I am applying for is only interested in the total score. The AWA and IR score doesn't count at all and I didn't prepare neither for those two sections. Thus, on test day will work on AWA & IR with a very low energy level so that I can put full power into Quant & Verbal. Any thoughts on this idea?
