Hi,
I am currently working as a full time management consultant and I subscribed for the Economist GMAT Tutor something like 5 months ago. Due to lack of free time, I was able to put from 6-8 to 10 hrs a week on average, so now I have reached 80% of my preparation (both Q and V)
I haven't tried any simulation test (maybe I just don't want to waste them) but three years ago I tried real GMAT with very low prep (1 month) and scored 570.
I am currently aiming at >700 and I don't have binding deadlines, though I would like to get rid of GMAT in the next few months, at least before burning out.
My current strategy is to focus only on specific areas (i.e. QUANT>DS>ALGEBRA) and try to reach the highest hit ratio possible (i.e. 90%) for each of them before moving on, scaling up questions by difficulty level. As this process seems logically sound to me, since it makes me able to aim at my weak areas, I find it really daunting and time consuming. Also, this requires a tremendous amount of questions, and sometimes I find already seen questions, which risk to inflate my perceived performance.
I feel I don't have any real issue with theory, which I covered pretty well for the most topics. I just make silly mistakes, I overlook important information, I feel pressured and so on,
So I am currently asking for advice: considered that now I have a complete knowledge of all the topics of the GMAT, how can I best shape my strategy to focus on my weak areas in an efficient manner? Please also consider my full-time work as a constraint.
Thanks for your precious help.
