Congrats on your admits!
Paying to deposits, sounds like something I probably would’ve done 😂
First of all, I do not think you would have a better recruiting at stern. That is the easiest end simplest thing to answer simply because M7 schools have more robust recruiting and more diverse recruiting. At the same time, Columbia is usually heavily skewed towards New York and New York-based employers which of course there is plenty in Manhattan alone, but with the pandemic and many offices going remote or moving to Florida or elsewhere, I think some of that advantage has faded which seems to be reflected in the latest rankings, though I haven’t really dove in yet as to what contributed to the decline.
Take this with a grain of salt, but in the latest boom of jobs, especially in tech, it’s been really hard to tell which program is really good about placement and which ones I just lucky. 10 companies have been hiring left and right, which may not last for another three years by the time you graduate, but they will favor strong candidates from top programs. What I’m saying, is that in the current market, it doesn’t matter which program you attend because you’re almost guaranteed to find a job at Amazon. In a more niche area or declining job market oh and competition is very stiff, Columbia would give you an advantage. Will you use that advantage? It doesn’t seem to be very likely…. I would feel fairly comfortable picking Stern but I don’t want to go against your significant other 😬😂
