Hi all,
I'm writing to ask for advice on how to moved beyond Q44 in the next 6 days. Details of scores, strengths and weaknesses follow. I've also put down my plan for the next week. Any recommendations on what I can add/edit/delete to this plan would be super-helpful.
First, the pattern from 3 GMAT prep official tests -
680 (Q:44, V:39) - 15 Apr
720 (Q:44, V:44) - 26 Apr
720 (Q:44, V:44) - 2 May (today)
I haven't worked on verbal at all in the past 1 month, just focused on quant so it's part-funny, part-depressing to see that Q44 mirrored across all 3. An analysis of my quant strengths and weaknesses based on practice and these prep tests -
Strengths -
1) Get almost all easy and medium PS questions right
2) Get easy DS questions right - especially those to do with number properties, percents, probability, combinatorics and sets
3) Accuracy really picks up after Q 12-13 - probably because I only land easy questions after that
4) Pacing is fine - I always finish within allotted time with about 2-3 guesses between Q11 and Q25
Weaknesses -
1) Get almost all medium DS questions wrong - in my last prep test I got 8 out of 10 first questions as DS (since it's an official prep test I'm assuming it can happen on the real test)
2) 4-5 errors in first 10 questions (mostly DS)
3) Somehow get stuck in solving medium-difficulty PS questions even though I know I'm spending too much time because somewhere in the back of my head there is the thought I will get DS wrong anyway
Strategies used so far and efficacy -
1) Went through all
MGMAT books religiously - pushed quant score from 30 to 44 so seems to have worked
2) Practised
OG questions (but not
OG QR - I have the book though)
3) Solved questions from Bunuel's lists - the "tricky questions from previous years" was particularly helpful
I take the GMAT in another 6 days. Here's my plan. Please tell me if this sounds alright based on your experiences -
DDay-7 (today): review errors from today's prep test + go through all my past DS errors once again
DDay - 6: Redo all medium and hard DS questions from
OGDDay -5: Advanced SC and CR to see if V can grow to 47ish and cover up a bit for Q (is this a good idea at all?)
DDay - 4: Take another official prep test
DDay - 3 and -2: Intensive review, go over error logs
DDay -1: Want to take this day a bit easy and relax
Thanks in advance for reading and responding. I'm super-grateful.
