Hello fellow aspirants,
This is my first post on the GMAT Club. I have been a silent follower of the group for a long time and read amazing stories of breaking through the GMAT score from the 500's to 700's. I have been preparing for GMAT (on and off) for about 8months now and do not see much improvement in my scores.
Official GMAT attempt: 540 (Q39, V26)
MGMAT 3 : 530 ( Q39, V25)
MGMAT 4 : 620 (Q45, V31)
MGMAT 5 : 600 (Q46, V28)
Veritas CAT 1: 580 (Q45, V25)
Veritas CAT 2 : 560(Q43, V24)
The latest verbal breakup is as below:
% correct # correct # incorrect Pace per question
Overall 61% 25 16 01m 49s
Critical Reasoning 88% 14 2 01m 54s
Reading Comprehension 25% 3 9 02m 00s
Sentence Correction 62% 8 5 01m 33s
The #incorrect answers reduced in Veritas CAT1 from 18 to Veritas CAT2, 16 yet the overall score is low. Also, my pace on the second CAT was much better yet the overall score is low. I cant reason why!
I am unable to understand where I am going wrong with my preparation. I am really looking to improve my Verbal scores to 35-39 and overall score above 700's. Please guide me on the best way to approach the exam. I want to take the official GMAT in Dec mid. I have very little time left and I am confused as to how should I go about it.

Hi Alisha,
If we ignore your 'outlier' score (MGMAT #4), you're scores are clustered in the high 500s, with a Verbal Score in the mid-20s. To hit both of your score goals (700+ with a V35+), you're going to have to make some significant changes to how you 'see' (and respond to) the GMAT. Since you've been studying a certain way for 8 months, you've also likely developed some 'bad habits' that will take time to 'fix' (and replace with good habits). All of this will require a great deal of work - and you might need more time to accomplish all of this than you have.
1) Do you have an Official Test Date yet? Do you have any flexibility to push that Test Date back?
2) What resources have you been using during your studies?

Thank for your reply. I do not have an official test date yet. I wish to apply in R2 for most of the programs so I guess mid-december would be the latest I should get my GMAT done with.
I have gone through the MGMAT guides once. Also, I had subscribed to the Empower Gmat for a little bit and I am using the Test it, Test the answers, Triage all taught by you for quant section. I am following the SC strategies and RC ladder too. I am having a problem pacing up on my mock tests and trying to improve on that too. Rest I am just focusing on solving problems and cross checking my thought process as compared to the solution.
