Stuck with low Verbal Scores

Question

I gave my first GMAT exam in September, even though when I was scoring around 650 (Q50 in 4 tests, V30 in average) in gmat prep tests. I scored 590 (Q49, V23)in the real gmat exam as I was occupied with some office work. Should have kept my phone aside instead. So I took egmat subscription to improve my verbal score. After doing all the verbal exercises and as I felt a little comfortable with verbal I reset all the GMAT prep tests (1-4) I had. 710, 670, 750 & 760 are the scores with Q50 in all of them and V 42 being he maximum score. Then I reappeared for my real gmat just recently, and I faltered! Q50 & V25 a total of 630 ! I couldn't apply any of the verbal strategies such as rethinking for CR, meaning based approach for SC etc,. I just tried to find the answer among the choices and ended up scoring pretty low. And I'm planning to apply for round 2 deadlines. I don't understand what went wrong. I request someone to give some suggestions on improving the scores or strategy, if any. Now I'm rethinking whether to take GRE instead.:/

ravibisoi  - I am sorry to hear that you did not do well on the GMAT. It seems that you were doing well on the official mock tests. Lets get some more data so that I can figure out as to how I can help you improve.

1. Can you send me your e-GMAT id on PM?
2. What were your scores in e-GMAT Scholaranium?
3. How did your scores compare to scores of students mentioned in the video below? Please take a look at both the feedback scores in the course as well as in Scholaranium?

As I had experience with both GMAT and GRE, I can offer some advice if you are to switch from GMAT and GRE. 
(1) I think you can get almost perfect Quant score in GRE.
(2) There is no SC in GRE. There are just 2 CR questions out of 40 in GRE Verbal. But GRE and GMAT do share RC questions and, generally speaking, GRE's reading is more challenging. 
(3) GRE verbal also contains Sentence Completion & Sentence Equivalence questions, and they can get tough. 
(4) It is almost always recommended to improve your GRE vocabulary. For GMAT, many test takers can do without dedicated vocab training.

So, GRE is not necessarily easier than GMAT. You can take an official GRE mock to see if you are better suited for GRE or not.

ravibisoi  - as mentioned in the PM, let's get your ESR and then create an improvement plan. Your Scholaranium scores indicate a V27 score. Your official GMAT mock scores are clearly inflated.

Once we get your ESR, we can work on that improvement plan. I think you can get to a V38+ in about a month.
