I started preparing for my GMAT exams about two weeks ago ( I have 6 weeks to go). I have read the concepts and topics in the verbal and quant syllabus. I started taking practice test since last week and I have since then been struggling with time and also stuck between 520-550. My goal is too have 700+. I have never completed my test questions within the given time frame. Also, I noticed that divisions and multiplications take most of my time in the quant session. As for Verbal, I spend too much time (4 mins) reading a question stem/RC.
Please, where can I get strategies for time management, divisions, multiplications and how to read Verbal questions/RC passages with a short time?

550 with little preparation is a good starting point . But agree with above 2 posts that you may need a bit longer time with proper study plan to break into 700 +

Hi Damtom,

From your post it appears to me that you skipped a critical step in your preparation - learning how to apply the concepts/process skill to solve GMAT like questions. It seems as if you moved from reading a topic directly into taking practice tests. Your scores indicate conceptual gaps and further gaps in your ability to apply those concepts. Solving questions alone would not be enough to cross the 700 mark; you need to have conceptual clarity and a good hold over applying those concepts to GMAT level questions.

To do this, you must follow a structured approach and use an application process that is reliable and repeatable. Here are a few students who were in the same shoes as you and then improved their Verbal scores by following a methodical approach.
    · Chintan gave too many mocks on his first attempt and ended up getting only a 630. In his second attempt, he realized his mistake, followed a methodical approach, got his fundamentals strong and improved to a 710(V38) from 630(V27). Click here to read his de-brief.
    · Murali (740) started his GMAT journey only by practicing questions from OG. Soon realized that it required a methodical approach to ace GMAT and set out to do just that. Click here to read his amazing debrief.

Feel free to reach out to our team to get clarity on the strategy you should use to prepare. You can reach out to us from here.

Aditee
