Dear all, would like to ask for advice on study plan and materials to purchase. Goal is to improve from 610 to 660-680.
I studied for EA in 2020 (about 3 months), and started working on GMAT just this month. Due to work commitments, there was a gap period in between hence I only started my prep in March.
Have gone through some threads on GMATclub (and I really appreciate the different guides, question guides etc) but would also like to get some thoughts on which materials would be more suitable for me.
Target: 660-680
Previous:
610 | Q42 V32 (GMAT Exam Attempt 1) (Mar 29)
660 | Q46 V35 (GMAT Practice 1) (Mar 20)
640 | Q44 V34 (GMAT Practice 2) (Mar 25)
640 | Q47 V31 (GMAT Practice 3) (Mar 26)
(Studied for GMAT in Mar 2020 only)
155 | Q13 V10 (EA Exam) (Jun 27, 2020)
(Studied for EA from Mar to June 2020)
Planned next exam: 2 weeks to 1 month
(Deadline for R2 submission is 15 May)
Weakness areas:
Quant - Data Sufficiency, Prime, Word Problems
Verbal - Sentence correction, Critical Reasoning (Assumption, options with %/#), Reading Comprehension (difficult, scientific / technical passages)
Others - Exam anxiety, time management
Materials I have used:
- Manhattan Verbal Guides (Read this while I was preparing for EA)
- EA Prep (that was last year)
- Kaplan Prep Guide 2021 (this has been quite useful in teaching me the strategies)
- OG Practice 1
How I plan to revise in the next 2 weeks to 1 month:
- Start from basics, go through OG /
Manhattan Prep Guides + do all the practice questions inside
- Work on concepts and fundamentals, OG Practice 2
- Go through questions, guides on GMATclub (such a treasure trove

)
- Time available to commit: Weekdays 1 hour per day, Weekends 6 hours per day
I can't decide between OG /
Manhattan Prep. Based on what I've read, most people on GMATclub recommend OG to start off with basics. There were some comments that Manhattan Guide is too theoretical, but at the same time the MG will be good for building fundamentals. As prep courses do not fit my budget, I plan to self-study.
Thank you
