Hi,
I just gave a practice test by Veritas Prep and score 630 (Q-46, V-31). In sentence correction, I got only 2/13 questions right.
I am a non-native speaker. Can someone please advice me on an optimum plan to improve my verbal score to 41? Also, can you tell how accurate is the Veritas prep practice test.
I want to give the GMAT by the mid September or end September.
Thanks for the help.
Hi lemon123,
For sentence correction, pattern recognition is key. In recent months, the GMAT has been testing more and more comprehension in its sentence correction questions, but this doesn't change the fact that certain common grammatical errors appear over and over again.
Additionally, reading well-written texts can go a long way towards improving ones English skills. Even when you think you are burned out on studying, if you can read one or two articles a day from sources like the New York Times or the Economist, you can get that much closer to your target scores.
Beyond that, it's hard to give specific answers without a few more details from you. How much time do you have to study per week? Do you want to take a class, or self-prepare? And do you plan to focus exclusively on verbal, or do you want to raise your quant, IR, and AWA scores as well?
Hope this helps,
