I have been studying for about three months now, but I feel after I take a few steps forward I mess up on some easy math or verbal problems and feel that I have taken few steps back.
I have weaknesses in both math and verbal. My question is does anyone think it's better to work on math for a little while and then go to verbal or is it better to do a little bit of both everyday.

I'd advise you to study them math first and leave the verbal behind. It is better to concentrate on one problem rather than trying to work on all of them together.
In Russian we have a good saying: if you hunt two jack rabbits simultaneously you'll catch non of them

Bono: I second your advice!!
I myself feel that I am weak in Verbal.. So have been working only on verbal.. Have not touched maths yet.
I think the Kaplan's GMAT-GRE 2004 software also tries to identify one's weak spot and focus all developments around them!!
