I want to understand 2 things. How is GMAT FOCUS different from GMAT CLASSIC (Score wise and not timewise) and how much should I aim for if I only need top tier colleges.
Secondly, When to give mocks ? I am enrolled with an institute for preps and almost a month into my prep. I intend to take GMAT by sept mid.
1. GMAT Focus vs Classic (Score-wise):
GMAT Focus scores range from
205 to 805, while GMAT Classic was
200 to 800.
GMAT Focus has only
Quant, Verbal, and Data Insights (DI). GMAT, which was discontinued on January 31, 2024, consisted of four sections: Quant Reasoning , Verbal Reasoning , Analytical Writing Assessment and Integrated Reasoning.2. How much should you aim for?
Most top-tier B-schools typically look for a score above 740 on the GMAT Focus to stay competitive.
3.When to take mocks?
Now: Take
1 mock to get a baseline and understand timing/format.
Use the
official mocks from mba.com – they're the most accurate.
Between mocks, spend time
reviewing mistakes and fixing weak areas.
