1. Fruits he likes most are mango and orange. 2. Fruit he likes most is mango. 3. What he likes most in her is her beauty. 4. What he likes most in her are her beauty and her intelligence.
Now in all above examples, bold part is subject. I have studied many reliable sources related to subject verb agreement for such cases. And I found different opinions about it. Few says that action clause acting as subject always acts as singular. So I need to place singular verb. But few other says that for such cases it depends on what is the object.
Take example 3, he like one thing, so need singular verb. but in example 4, he likes two things, so I need plural verb. Similar thought goes with 1 and 2.
So I need expert explanation how to deal such sub-verb agreement SC problems.
