Guys-

I submitted in my Wharton app yesterday and realized I uploaded the same word doc for Essay 3 and Essay 4. I am thus missing Essay 3 entirely.

I have emailed the school, apologizing for the mistake and asking if there is any way to re-open the application so that I can upload in the correct Essay 3 document.

Do you think they would allow this? Also, do you think they might hold this against me in the application process?

It seems like a pretty reasonable mistake anybody could make, and its just the one thing you messed up. I would just call them.

(Plus, the web interfaces for these applications aren't really the most user-friendly things in the world. I've been really paranoid about triple-checking everything I type/upload.)

Now if you had accidentally uploaded your personal diary or something risque, I could see that being an issue (and potentially hillarious).

My guess is that they'll re-open the document, allow you to fix the mistake, but at this point, they've already decided to reject your application. They don't even need to read it now, but they still want your app fee.

Wow, the paranoia runs deep around here!

My god people, adcoms aren't supernatural deities, they are run of the mill average people. You know, people who make mistakes?

In fact I'm 100% sure that you aren't the first person to do this, nor the last.

Calm down and congratulate yourself on finishing the app.

Just call them Monday. This isn't a big deal. It's not like you uploaded Columbia's essay 3 or anything.
