First of all, can someone suggest me how many schools should I apply to?
I was thinking of applying to like 6-8 schools.
My question is, do I need to ask the recommender to send the letter to every 8 schools, or do I have some other option like I can send the letter instead to all the schools or anything like that.
The answer to "How many schools" depends entirely on how important it is to you that you apply this year. For example, you may be very clear that you want to apply only to top 10 schools, and would rather reapply next year than settle for a lower-ranked school. Or you may already have 10+ years of experience, and are sure that waiting another year is not an option.
If you are sure that your profile is not going to improve significantly from this year to next, and that now is the best time to apply, then it is better to spread your net wide. Pick a mix of Dream, Stretch and Reach schools. More on shortlisting schools here:
https://www.crackverbal.com/choosing-a-b ... hool-tips/The final number of schools you want to apply to depends entirely on you - but don't get caught in an analysis-paralysis. Your real decision of "Which school?" comes when you have multiple admits in hand and need to choose where to go. You stand more to lose by not applying to a school just because you aren't 100% sure of your decision - this is your opportunity cost.
