My question is, do I need to ask the recommendor to send the letter to every 8 schools, or do I have some other option like I can send the letter instead to all the schools or anything like that.

Very few schools today ask for a "Letter of recommendation".
First, you need to create an applicant profile on the school's website. There will be an option for you to submit the contact details of your recommenders. The school will then send the recommender a link with questions - some rating parameters and a few short answer questions about your qualities (strength, weakness, leadership etc.)

So the answer is yes - your recommender needs to give 8 recommendations if you apply to 8 schools. :)

I won't rehash what Gowri has stated - her point on conversion is valid. However, I'll say this - 6 to 8 schools if you're targeting R2 is a lot. With the strain on your recommenders along with the essays and applications (yes, you can leverage some material but not a lot), it's going to be quite an undertaking.

If you could provide a little more information on your situation, I'd be happy to help you figure out what the right number of programs is!
