Hey,

I have my GMAT on the 11th of this month. I have been averaging around 590 ( Q44, V29) for the last couple of weeks and got a 600 (Q45, V31) and 630 (Q50, V30).
I had given a mock yesterday and i got a 710 (Q51, V37). This feels unreal and I am not sure how to proceed. Can someone help me out with this?
Hi jjanani222,

If that was an official practice test ("fresh" questions), then the score is reliable.

All the best for the test.

Hi jjanani222,

Your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for this Exam are considerably higher than the other Scores that you mentioned over the last several weeks (especially the V37). Can you point to any specific changes that you have made to your study routine to account for this much higher Score? When you took this recent CAT, did you see any 'repeat' questions that you already knew the answers to?

Before I can offer you any additional specific advice, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Probably good to consider the scores from Official Mocks as being the most credible (if you have been using a variety).

All the best with your exam on the 11th.

Hi jjanani222.

Your Q51 quant section score on the last test isn't out of line with how you have been doing. After all, you did get Q50 on the previous one.

On the other hand, V37 is significantly higher than you had scored on verbal on your previous tests. So, did you do something different in verbal when you took that test that you should seek to repeat? Were you more careful? Did you manage your time better?

Meanwhile, as bb said, it would be helpful to know what practice tests those are so that we have a better idea of what those scores indicate. If they are all official practice tests, then the scores are likely pretty accurate indicators of your skill level. If the tests are from a variety of sources, then what your scores mean is less clear.

The 710 and 600 mocks were from princeton review while the 630 one is from MGMAT.
I took a official mock now and got a 670 ( Q48, V34).

I was trying to let loose and not put too much pressure on myself during the last two mocks. Had to let go of the perfectionist in myself i think.

So, given that you now have scored 670 on an official practice test, it appears that that approach is working and that your current level is somewhere around 670, and perhaps 700+ when you're at your best.

You're close to reliably scoring 700+. You may get some key insights into how to get to that point from the following post.

Why don't you take an official MBA.com practice exam?
