Please suggest which path to choose for being able to apply for both IB and Consulting Companies at the end of MBA.

I collected the below data from kellog website.
I was also wondering comming from a non finance background, ( Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, IT ) how difficult or easy the transition would be to get along with the rest of the class.
Under MBA Finance

Below are the choices for consulting
Foundation courses
Financial Decisions -- Not sure
Derivatives I -- Not sure
Financial Strategy and Tax Planning -- Not sure
Corporate Restructuring -- Not sure

Recommended electives
Security Analysis -- Not sure
Mergers and Acquisitions -- Interesting
International Finance -- Interesting
Entrepreneurial Finance -- Not sure
International Macroeconomics for Business Managers -- Familiar

Choices for IB

Foundation Courses
Financial Decisions -- Not sure
Derivatives I -- Sounds tough
Financial Strategy and Tax Planning -- Not sure
Corporate Restructuring -- Sounds tough
Investment Banking -- Not sure
Security Analysis -- Not sure
International Macroeconomics for Business Managers

Recommended electives
Mergers and Acquisitions
Derivatives II
International Finance
Investments
Fixed Income Securities

Are the Suggestions allright or anything better, please suggest.

Thank you.

The IB courses sound right. The consulting courses should be more focused on strategy, not arcane financial areas (derivatives). Accounting should be prereqs for both. I would also suggest a excel-modeling course, as simple as it sounds, for either of the paths.

No issues on engineering to either of those career paths, done by many folks before you.

Best of luck!
