Hi all
I took my GMAT a week back and scored only 640. In all my previous practice tests, simulated in real conditions, I had scored over 700 each time (2 GMATPREP, MGMAT tests). I am thus confident that when I take the test again, I will score over 700.
My problem is that the top schools I am applying to have 2nd deadline around January 5th. I cannot take another test until January 9th. At this time I have scheduled for a retake on February 13th. This probably means I will miss 2012 admission.
My question is if you have any suggestion, other than applying with the current score, so that I don’t miss 2012 admission. Would it be worth applying and telling the school to wait on my decision until my new score comes. Sounds naïve; while I am certain my score will improve (there were few things that went haywire in my first test, things I can control) I am not sure if this strategy would work.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

You should tell them that you are planning to retake it and that the new scores will arrive around so and so date. They don't review the applications the date of the dateline, but usually much later so you could be fine. Just ask them
