Suggestions for School selection

Question

Hi,

I scored GMAT-600 and Toefl-89. I am planning to take MIS/MSIS course in the coming spring season. I am looking through some of the colleges such as:

Arizona State University
Oklahoma state Univ, Stillwater (No admissions for spring?)
Texas A & M University
Northern Illinois University
Florida International University

I am not sure whether my scores meet the requirements of these colleges. Please provide GMAT & Toefl scores for the above universities. Also, suggest me top 10 universities for my scores.

However, while the GMAT is an important piece of your profile, it's not the ONLY piece, so schools will also want to know more about your background/work history/etc. In any case, if you'd like more information on where you currently stand, also feel free to reach out to admissions counselors at each of these schools directly.

There are a variety of factors that go into selecting the Schools that you'll apply to. Here are some things to think about:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal. 
2) What do you want your degree to do for you? 
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time? 
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online? 
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships? 
Etc.

It's okay if you don't have answers to any of these questions just yet, but you really to need to think about all of these details (and some other details too) to help you find the Schools that are most appropriate to your goals.

1. There isn't a particular company that i want to work with.
2. The degree must help me to attain managerial skills and become a manager. Also, it should drive me to achieve top of the manager ladder.
3. Full time
4. I am comfortable to relocate, but like to attend in-class course.
5. Yes, going to apply for scholarships.

Hi mschandra,

This is a good start. Now that you've defined some of these parameters, you can use them to narrow down your searches and evaluate the Schools that you've already named. I suggest that you start with each School's website; you might also be able to speak with Officers at each School directly (or with Alums) if you have additional questions. My guess is that they would all be more than happy to provide the information that you are looking for.
