Hi Rich,

Regarding the test before going for preparation. How will it help?

To These questions I would like to answer

1) What is your goal score?

Not less than 700.

2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?

Curently I dont feel like I can decide about any time because of lack of confidence. If I must than I would say in June 2017.

3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Probably after June 2017.Based on the score I get.

Welcome my friend. We both are on the same boat.
I am using Magoosh and find it quite good for quant but not that good for verbal. For verbal you can check egmat verbal series which I have not tested myself but have seen lot of good reviews in GMAT club.

Apart from these MGMAT Strategy guides are also very good for self study and practice.

You will get many information from this site so keep browsing the Gmat club.

Hi Varun,

To score at a high level on the GMAT, you have to have a variety of skills (more than just content knowledge) and the only way to properly assess whether you have those skills or not is to take FULL-LENGTH CATs under realistic conditions AND at regular intervals. That initial Diagnostic CAT Test will help to define some the 'weak spots' that you might need to work on - including pacing, endurance, focus, note-taking, stress, ability to 'let go' of a question, etc. Right now, we have no measure of your skill level in those areas and it's better to know about them earlier on (so that you can spend more time 'fixing' them) then discovering them too late in the process.

Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores; it appears that you've given yourself plenty of time to study though - which is good. Now we just need to see that first CAT score and we can discuss how best to proceed from there.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
