For January entry vs. August entry, the difference is the summer internship. My question is: Which career paths really need the summer internship? What industries do employers really want to see a summer internship to break into? I've heard that to break into Investment Banking or MBB consulting, you really need a summer internship. Are there any other industries, companies, or jobs that really need it? (assuming you don't have experience in that field).
An important note is that most January entry programs allow part-time, in-semester internships. Thus the real question is: Which industries, jobs, and companies want those with summer internships rather than part-time in-semester internships.
I assume that for every job there are ways of getting it without a summer internship, but looking to know which industries/companies are realistic without a summer internship and which really want them.
Any advice would help. Thanks!
