Summer internships/jobs for entrepreneurial folks

Question

I'd like to learn what people focusing on entrepreneurship find themselves doing over the summer. Are they interning for companies? Writing business plans and launching ventures? Is there a good way to earn some money while gaining valuable entrepreneurial experiences or working toward the start of your venture?

Most entrepreneurship people I have met have normal internships like the rest of us. You just have to manage your entrepreneurial endeavor outside of the work/study time. The percentage of people in entrepreneurship program that actually launch a company after they graduate are fairly low. I recommend you hunt for an internship for your first summer.

Thanks for the reply. What about just thinking about this from an admissions perspective. So, if you're planning to focus on entrepreneurship and you're asked the question, "What will you do for your summer internship/job?", what's the best answer? In that case, I don't think it would be wise to say, "I'll take a typical internship just in case this entrepreneurship thing doesn't work out."

That would be too early to give up, if your startup idea can't last till the summer, it's probably not the best idea.

Usually people take a VC or maybe working for some startups during the summer while continue working on their own startup ideas. There is nothing prevent you from taking a finance or consulting job for internship.
