Just finished A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink.

highly recommended - very thought provoking. Especially for those of us who are natural left brainers ...

Am currently reading The McKinsey Way by Ethan Rasiel.

Not bad, and it is a relatively quick read...Probably a required reading if you recruiting for McK?

Just curious, how many hours do most of you spend reading a day/week? I rarely read books but do scan the WSJ almost every day. Somehow I need to get the motivation to get more into these type of business reads but just haven't managed to do so. I'm an engineer so I just like to look at numbers, words are merely there so I can put post-its on every page to look cool.

I have read this one as well as the follow on to it ... the McKinsey Mind

both are fairly easy reads and move along nicely.

no problem, I was joking back. I *should* reduce the amount of time I spend here though, and focus on other things, haha. But it's SOOO tempting to log onto GMAT Club...

By the way, would anybody recommend any of Soros' books?

I met with a porfolio manager last week who recommended Soros' "the new paradigm for financial markets" and i walked out of his office and straight into a barnes and noble to pick it up (along with "the black swan"--another good one). its a pretty quick read, but INCREDIBLE. I haven't finished yet, but it is def worth the time/cash. I can't imagine finding a book any more relevant to today's markets.

Anyone know who wrote 'the goal'?

No problem--I'm constantly on the lookout for good books and get tired of trying to sift through Amazon reviews since it's difficult to decipher what kind of background the reviewers have. One of the great things about having a train ride commute is all the reading you can do.

I'll check out Soros' new book, I was thinking about "Alchemy of Finance" as well. I'm just finishing Greenwald's "Value Investing: from Graham to Buffet and Beyond" which I actually really like because it goes through the methodology using simple examples. Next on my list is Whitman's "The Aggressive Conservative Investor". His shareholder letters are good reads, so I thought I'd try one of his books. I also recently read "Ghost: Confessions of a Counterterrorism Agent" by Fred Burton. He was more of an investigator/analyst than a Jack Bauer type, back in the 80's that tells some interesting stories with insights about intelligence and terrorism, in case you need a break from business reading.
