Hi.. I have small confusion related to Data Sufficiency problem answering?
Suppose the question asks whether the number m is odd?
If statement 1 proves it is even & statement 2 proves it is odd, both individually are able to answer the question in either Yes or No.
So what will be the answer choice..
Is it option D because both of them are sufficient to answer the question? OR Is it option B, because statement 1 proves it to be even so Insufficient & statement 2 proves it to be Odd & sufficient?
This query is bugging me a lot... Not clear if a statement can be sufficient even if it answers in negative.

Technically answer would be D, as EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question.
But even though formal answer to the question is D (EACH statement ALONE is sufficient), this is not a realistic GMAT question, as: on the GMAT, two data sufficiency statements always provide TRUE information and these statements never contradict each other.
So we can not have answer NO \(m\) is not odd from statement (1) and answer YES \(m\) is odd from statement (2), as in this case statements would contradict each other.
