I got a 740. 47 Verbal but only 45 Quant. Should I take it again?
My official practice test scores were:
740, 760, 760, 770, 770, 740
Applying to top schools (Stanford, Harvard, Kellogg, etc.), and my background is in mechanical engineering (school and job), so in theory schools shouldn't be too worried about my quant abilities.
Thoughts? Applying round 2, so if I took it again it would have to be right before the app deadline and a bit of a logistical nightmare with holiday travel

Hi MBAapplicant11618,
That's a great score, and an amazing verbal score. Given the whole 'logistical nightmare' bit, I wouldn't take the GMAT again if I were you.
You could go for a retake if everything else is in place, but with such a good score, you're probably better off focusing on the other aspects of your applications.

First, congratulations for the 740 and especially for the spectacular 47 in verbal.
You don't have to retake if the logistics are going to be difficult
But if the 45 in Quant is an outlier and you are confident of doing better, it may be worth retaking.
It will not matter even if the Verbal score reduces from 47 to, say, 45. Both are 99 percentile.
