Here are some reasons why people miss RC questions:

- I didn't understand the passage.

- I didn't check the passage to confirm that my choice was correct.

- I chose an incorrect choice because I didn't read the entire choice.

- I eliminated the correct answer because I didn't read the entire choice.

- I chose an incorrect choice because it had wording similar to that of the passage.

- I eliminated the correct answer because it had wording different from that of the passage.

- I put my own spin on what the passage said.

- I ignored my own internal red flag indicating that my choice might be incorrect.

- I didn't answer the question asked.

- I chose an opposite choice.

- I mixed up two different things in the passage.

- I gave up and chose an answer before I was truly clear about which was correct.

Hi,
Can someone list a finite list of takeaways one can draw from RC mistakes? What are things that your error log can read for RC. I think its easier to do it for CR and SC but difficult here.
Thanks!

I don't think you are going about it the right way. An error log is a tool to aid your preparation - your preparation cannot be aimed at completing the error log for every incorrect question.
RC is about speed and comprehension. It improves when you read regularly, say for an hour or two everyday. In fact, the entire Verbal section improves when you do that.
When you make a mistake in RC, you may have some instant takeaways - I recalled the given detail in the passage incorrectly - which tells you that you must go to confirm what the passage said about the point in question or - I forgot to check the two lines above the highlighted part in a function question - which reminds you that you must read 2-3 lines above and 2-3 lines below the highlighted part etc.

But more often than not, the issue would be that your comprehension would have fallen short of the required level. At that time you will struggle with what the takeaway is - what you should do is read the passage again carefully and then try the question again. Then see if it makes sense. Most often it will.
So the RC section essentially comes down to regularly reading as much as you can with a focus on speed and comprehension, both.
