I am overwhelmed with information about taking GMAT, practice tests,
kaplan, Princeton review, manhattan guide and so on and on.
I want to start preparing now and take the exam in Mid July. My target score would be around 550-600 atmost. I am preparing using the following books.

1. Kaplan GMAT 2006 Edition
2. Barrons How to prepare for GMAT with CDROM

I have seen the princeton review's cracking the GMAT and heard about official guide to GMAT.

I need some guidance on what books to read and in what order for the next 3 weeks to come close to where i want to be. Where i can take practice tests ?
This question could have asked before and already answered. If some one could point me to that link it would be great.

Hi, and welcome!

Some quick thoughts...I have never seen anyone recommend Barron's for GMAT prep, just GRE, so I probably wouldn't use that book. The Cracking the GMAT book you mentioned, and GMATPrep, are definite musts. Kaplan's ok, but whatever you do, ignore the scores from their tests!! The PR and Kaplan books come with tests.

Manhattan SC guide is good. Other than that, focus on the Official Guide

After 2 days of preparation i am still struggling to get CR and SC correct. I have not seen the manhattan guide or Official guide yet. I am reading from Kaplan.
Would i do better after going through one of these?

I am too planning to take GMAT somewhere last week of July....
SC could be a lot easier once u read the Manhattan guide..This is what I felt personally....
After reading Kaplan's strategies for CR, I am finding the CR questions a lot easier...

But I am confused as to where to look for PS & DS questions..Kaplan and Barrons have very easy questions...Haven't checked the OG11 and Manhattan Guide..Just wondering if I cud get the soft copy of Manhattan maths from somewhere

For SC: Manhattan SC .. only start with this

For CR: Kaplan ..

For RC: Practice . Practice .. Practice !!


Then use OG11 to practice all different types of Verbal questions and make sure you understand the official explanations
