Taking the GMAT Online - is it true that scores cannot be cancelled?

Hello everyone,

I am thinking about taking the GMAT Online soon because I am on a year abroad and the keyboard layout here is very different from mine so I figure taking it in the test centre might not be the best idea, given that I'll most likely waste a lot of time finding the right keys.

However, I have read conflicting statements on the advantages and disadvantages of the GMAT Online exam and just wanted a definitive answer. Is it true that if I take the GMAT Online and get a score that I am not happy with, there is no way of cancelling it or getting rid of it afterwards? In other words, if I get a bad score on the GMAT Online, there is no way of hiding it from the university that I am applying to?

With GMAT Online, you have the opportunity to first view your score and then choose whether you want to send your scores to to programs.
So unless shared, no one would be able see your score, its as good as cancelled.

Thanks everyone for the answers! But does that mean that when I take the GMAT Online a second time (assuming I did not like my first score), I can only send that second score so universities don't find out about the old one?

The thing is that I don't intend on sending my scores to the programs directly, I am doing the GMAT now because I have a bit of time but I will actually only apply to programs at the end of the year.

That's right. You get to choose. You can send only the first, or you can send only the second. This is applicable only to GMAT online scores.
