Tanked my GMAT after preparing for 3 months

Question

Hi experts,

Feeling really disheartened as I type this, I took my GMAT today for the first time and scored 630 (q46, v31). I got blanked out as soon as the test started. Fell short of time during both Quant and Verbal. Couldn't even mark answers for the last 3 questions in quant. The order of the test was V-Q-IR-AWA. Overall i feel that while my understanding of concepts might be decent, i take a lot of time to solve questions.
My official mock scores were consistently increasing from 660 to 670 to 690. Though the last mock that i took 2 days back,i got a 670 in that. I was still hoping to get a score closer to 700 but that didn't happen.

Can someone please advise me on how to go about my prep from here on?

In all honestly, considering your practice test scores, I would say that 630 is not that bad! Sure if was on the lower end of you where you were scoring but it's possible that nerves also got the best of you. Regarding how to move forward, I have a few helpful articles you can check out.

Here's someone who retook a v31 to a v40 in about 30 days . They took a bit of tutoring (6 hours) but mention a variety of tips and resources, you may be able to quickly leverage. Consider working with a study buddy. There's a dedicated thread to find one on gmatclub.

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Since we last discussed your studies back in detail back in February, before we discuss any of those potential issues with your Official Score, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying since then:

Studies:
1) Over the last 3 months how many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) What are your current applictaion plans?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
